Money Train 2 Slot Review: 96.40% RTP, 50,000x Max Win and the Money Cart Bonus

2 October 2026 · 8 min read

Money Train 2 is Relax Gaming’s steampunk Western sequel, released in September 2020. It is a 5 by 4 slot with 40 fixed paylines, a respin feature in the base game and the Money Cart bonus, a locked symbol respin round with a long list of special symbols. The original Money Train topped out at 20,000x. This one lists 50,000x.

It is a very high variance slot. This review covers the RTP and the lower versions reported, the volatility, the 50,000x maximum win in pounds at UK stakes, a hit frequency that several sites attribute to Relax Gaming, the details of the Money Cart bonus and where sources disagree.

Overview

Money Train 2 is set in the ruins of a Western village with a steampunk train. The low symbols are card suits, and the high symbols are a Green Sniper, a Debt Collector, a female character and the Necromancer. Casinomeister notes that Relax Gaming gave this sequel a stronger base game than the original, with the high symbols paying 8x to 20x the stake for five of a kind.

The design is still about the bonus. The Money Cart round is where the large multipliers sit, and it is also where the 50,000x cap applies.

How to play and stakes

Wins need three to five matching symbols on a payline from left to right. There are 40 fixed paylines. Sites give the minimum stake as 10p, but Casinomeister lists 20p, so the exact minimum can depend on the casino. The maximum is reported as £20 by several sites.

UK Gambling Commission rules cap slot stakes at £2 for players aged 18 to 24 and £5 for players aged 25 and over, so this review uses 10p, £1, £2 and £5 for its examples.

RTP and the versions you may meet

Most sources give the RTP as 96.40%, including Casinomeister and several review sites. Two sources report lower versions: one says it varies from 96.4% down to 94%, and another says 94.4% in the poorer version. AskGamblers says the RTP rises to 98% with the bonus buy, and another site describes a two tier structure depending on feature access and region. We could not read Relax Gaming’s game page, because the address we tried returned a 404, so these lower versions are third party reports we could not confirm.

UK casinos can run different RTP settings, so the help screen at your casino shows the figure that applies.

Volatility

Sources describe Money Train 2 as high volatility, with several calling it extremely high or 5 out of 5. Casinomeister calls it very volatile in both the base game and the main bonus. We use high to very high, since there is no single official rating we could read.

Max win and what it is worth in pounds

Every source agrees on 50,000x the total stake. One site notes that reaching it ends the round immediately. The original Money Train listed 20,000x, so this is a large step up.

Stake Max win at 50,000x
10p £5,000
£1 £50,000
£2 £100,000
£5 £250,000

These are theoretical ceilings, not typical results. Casinomeister says the main bonus can reach large totals even at small stakes.

Respins feature

Landing two of the scatter symbols, which means the main bonus did not trigger, starts the respin feature. Each scatter reveals a multiplier, they are combined, and a respin is awarded. Each respin that does not win raises the multiplier by 1x, and the feature continues until a win forms, at which point the multiplier applies. Casinomeister says reaching above 10x is unusual and that it has seen reports of around 40x, with no stated upper limit. AboutSlots reports that the respins feature hits about once every 72.9 spins.

Money Cart bonus

Three or more bonus symbols start the Money Cart bonus with three respins. The triggering symbols stay locked and reveal values, and every new symbol resets the respins to three. The round ends when the screen fills, which pays 500x the stake, or after three respins without a new symbol.

Symbol What Casinomeister reports
Bonus scatter Cash value of 1x to 10x
Golden bonus scatter Cash value of 20x to 200x
Payer Adds its value to the other scatter symbols
Collector Collects other values in view
Sniper Doubles the values of 3 to 8 random symbols
Necromancer Brings 1 to 6 symbols back to life
Reset Plus Resets respins and adds one
Persistent versions Repeat their effect on every later respin

Casinomeister says the bonus buy option is aimed at players outside certain regions, so check whether it is offered at your casino. AboutSlots reports that the bonus round appears about once every 435 spins, which is a third party figure.

Hit frequency and win rate

Several review sites, including AboutSlots and CasinoHawks, give the base game hit frequency as 19.55% and attribute it to Relax Gaming’s own information. We could not read Relax Gaming’s page ourselves, so we label it as reported rather than confirmed. Other sites round it to about 20%, or about 1 in 5 spins. SlotPal’s hit rate guide covers Big Bass and Eye of Horus only, so it has no Money Train 2 figure to compare.

A hit includes any win, including ones below the stake.

Is Money Train 2 enjoyable? Our verdict

This verdict is based on mechanics, provider rules and independent data. We have not played the game for money.

The design delivers a rare mix: a lively base game with the respin feature, and a bonus where symbols interact in layers. The cost is extreme variance. The Money Cart can take hundreds of spins to appear, and most outcomes are modest. It suits players who like complex bonus rounds and are happy to take long dry runs for a high ceiling. It is not suited to anyone with a small balance who wants steady play. Our verdict: a well built high risk slot that rewards patience.
