Company history

NetEnt was founded in 1996 in Stockholm, spun out of the Swedish casino operator Cherryföretagen, and listed on the Stockholm stock exchange in 2009. In September 2019 it announced the purchase of Red Tiger for £220 million.

Evolution announced its offer for NetEnt in June 2020 and completed the acquisition in late 2020, in a deal valued at about SEK 19.6 billion. NetEnt has continued to publish slots under its own brand within the Evolution group, and its older titles remain in distribution. Its sister studios in the group include Big Time Gaming.
