Sugar Rush is Pragmatic Play’s candy-themed cluster pays slot, released in June 2022. Gummy bears and jellybeans tumble on a seven by seven grid, and every winning cluster leaves a marked spot that can grow into a large multiplier.
This review takes its core facts from the provider’s own page and names the independent source behind every other figure. Where sources conflict, we say so. It is not a recommendation to play for money, and we have not played the game ourselves.

How to play and stakes
The grid is seven by seven with no paylines. Clusters of five or more matching symbols pay, and the symbols in a winning cluster disappear so new ones can tumble in. There is no wild symbol, according to several reviewers. The official page says the base game pays up to 150x for a cluster of 15 or more of the top symbol.
Third-party sources report a stake range of 0.20 to 100. In the UK the stake rules for online slots apply instead: £2 a spin for 18 to 24 year olds and £5 for those aged 25 and over. The ante bet, reported at an extra 25% per spin, adds to the cost, so check how your casino applies the limit. Autoplay and quick spin are not available to UK players.
RTP: which figure applies
The official Pragmatic Play page lists 96.50%. Aboutslots and 1xonca report two lower settings of 95.50% and 94.50%, which operators can choose. Those are third-party reports and not on the provider page. One site, Sugar Rush Casino, says the buy free spins RTP matches 96.50%, and another reports a lower buy RTP on a different variant, so treat the buy RTP as unconfirmed.
UK casinos can run different RTP settings, so the figure in the game’s information panel is the one that applies.
Volatility
The provider does not label volatility. Racing Post, Gameshub, Aboutslots and Casinos.com all call it high. Twinqo describes it as medium to high in its text but lists high in its table, and one other site says medium to high. We follow the majority, which says high.
Max win
The official page does not state a cap. Racing Post, Gameshub, Aboutslots, 1xonca and others agree on 5,000x the stake. Aboutslots puts the odds of reaching it at about 2.34 million spins, which is a reported figure and not an official one.
At UK stakes, 5,000x converts to the following, using the 20p minimum most sources report:
| Stake | Max win at 5,000x |
|---|---|
| £0.20 (reported minimum) | £1,000 |
| £1 | £5,000 |
| £2 (18 to 24 limit) | £10,000 |
| £5 (over 25 limit) | £25,000 |
The £2 and £5 rows only apply to players within each age band’s limit.
Multiplier spots and free spins
The provider describes the key mechanic: after a winning cluster, its symbols mark their positions on the grid. Each time a winning symbol later lands on one of those spots during the same spin, a multiplier is added. It starts at 2x and doubles each time, up to 128x.
Three, four, five, six or seven scatters trigger 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 free spins. In the feature, marked spots and multipliers last the entire round and do not reset between spins, which is where the biggest wins are reported to come from.
Ante bet and bonus buy
Third-party sources report an ante bet that raises the stake by 25% and doubles the chance of triggering free spins. A free spins buy at 100x the stake is reported by Sugar Rush Casino and Twinqo. Availability of the buy to UK players differs by casino, so check the game’s information panel.
Symbols and paytable
The provider confirms the structure of the paytable: clusters of 5 to 15 or more symbols pay in the base game, with a top payout of 150x. We did not find a complete symbol by symbol paytable from a source we trust, so we do not list one.
Hit frequency and win rate
The provider does not publish a hit frequency. Aboutslots and Gameshub both list 34.48%, and Twinqo repeats it. Aboutslots adds a free spins frequency of 1 in 323. Other figures exist: Connection Cafe says about 27% and Sugar Rush Game says about 22%, but neither names a measurement, so we follow the two sources that agree. All of these are reported, not official.
SlotPal’s guide to hit rates in Big Bass and Eye of Horus does not cover this game, so there is nothing there to cross-check.
How it compares with other Pragmatic Play games
Racing Post describes the game as building on Sweet Bonanza with multiplier spots that grow. The ceiling is much lower than Sweet Bonanza’s 21,175x. Sugar Rush 1000 is reported at 25,000x by Sugar Rush Casino and 1xonca, so the original is the more modest of the two.
Is it enjoyable? Our verdict
This section is based on mechanics, provider rules and independent data. We have not played the game.
The multiplier spots are the draw. Because they persist through the free spins, the round has a clear build-up that the base game lacks. The downsides are an absence of wilds, a base game that depends on tumbles, and a cap that is lower than several sister games. Casinos.com’s reviewer warns of long droughts and short bursts of big action.
Verdict: a good fit for players who like cluster and multiplier games and accept high volatility. If you want a higher cap, look at the 1000 version or other sister games.
