The Dog House is Pragmatic Play’s canine-themed five reel slot from 2019, and the game that started a franchise of sequels including a Megaways version. It is built around one idea: wilds with multipliers that stick in place during the free spins.

One caveat up front: the official Pragmatic Play page for this game returned a 404 error when we tried to read it, so we could not confirm provider figures directly. Every number below comes from named independent sources, and we say where they conflict. We have not played the game.

How to play and stakes

This is a conventional line slot: five reels, three rows and twenty fixed paylines, with wins paying from the left. Wild symbols carry 2x or 3x multipliers, and scatters appear on the first, third and fifth reels according to Bitedge.

Aboutslots lists a stake range of 0.20 to 100. In the UK the stake rules for online slots apply instead: £2 a spin for 18 to 24 year olds and £5 for those aged 25 and over. Autoplay and quick spin are not available to UK players.

RTP: which figure applies

Almost every source lists 96.51%, including OLBG, Aboutslots, Fruity Slots and Tribuna. OLBG also reports a 95.51% version, and AskGamblers notes that other casinos can run a setting around two points lower. These are third-party reports, because we could not read the provider’s own page.

UK casinos can run different RTP settings, so the information panel in the game at your casino is the figure that applies.

Volatility

OLBG, Aboutslots, Tribuna, Fruity Slots and Bitedge all call it high, and Fruity Slots rates it 5 out of 5. AskGamblers goes further and calls it extremely high. Bitedge notes that the sticky wilds make the free spins less volatile than the base game, which is a reviewer’s view and not a measurement.

Max win

Every source agrees on 6,750x the stake. OLBG and Aboutslots both quote the odds of hitting it as 1 in 8,333,333,333 spins, about 8.3 billion. That is a reported figure and not an official one, and it means the cap is effectively theoretical.

At UK stakes, 6,750x converts to the following, using the 20p minimum most sources report:

Stake Max win at 6,750x
£0.20 (reported minimum) £1,350
£1 £6,750
£2 (18 to 24 limit) £13,500
£5 (over 25 limit) £33,750

The £2 and £5 rows only apply to players within each age band’s limit.

Free spins and sticky wilds

Three scatters trigger the free spins. Before the round, Aboutslots says a 3 by 3 picker spins to reveal spin counts in each cell, and the total decides how many spins you get, from 9 up to 27. During the round, every wild that lands stays locked in place with its multiplier until the end.

Because the sticky wilds accumulate, the grid grows more valuable as the round goes on. Several reviews say multipliers on wilds that fall on the same line combine, with OLBG describing sticky multipliers up to 9x. The Casino Monkey adds that three more scatters during the round award 10 extra spins while keeping all existing sticky wilds, which is a single source.

Ante bet and bonus buy

None of the sources we read describe an ante bet or a bonus buy for the original game, so we do not report either. Later titles in the series may differ.

Symbols and paytable

We did not find a complete paytable from a source we trust, so we do not list payouts. The one structural fact reviewers agree on is that the wild carries a 2x or 3x multiplier and substitutes for pay symbols.

Hit frequency and win rate

The provider’s figure was not available to us. Aboutslots lists a hit frequency of 27.55% and a free spins frequency of about 1 in 180.47. Bitedge says roughly 1 in 4 spins, which is in the same range. These are reported by named independent sites, not official.

SlotPal’s guide to hit rates in Big Bass and Eye of Horus does not cover this game, so there is nothing there to cross-check.

How it compares with other Dog House games

OLBG lists The Dog House Royal Hunt with a higher 8,000x cap and a very high volatility rating. A Megaways sequel replaces the sticky wild round with new mechanics, according to Fortune Games. The original is the simplest of the family, with a lower cap but an easy format.

Is it enjoyable? Our verdict

This section is based on mechanics, provider rules and independent data. We have not played the game.

The sticky wild round is the main strength, because the build-up is visible and each wild changes the odds for the remaining spins. The weaknesses are a base game with few features, a cap that is largely theoretical given the reported odds, and high volatility. Fruity Slots calls the format straightforward and a standout for fans of sticky wild games.

Verdict: a good fit for players who like simple sticky wild games and can accept long dry runs. If you want an ante bet, a buy or a high realistic cap, look elsewhere.
