Company history
Pragmatic Play launched in 2015 in Gibraltar as a business-to-business supplier. In July 2016 IBID Group completed the purchase of its entire issued share capital. Through 2016 and 2017 the range widened from slots to jackpots, classic slots, scratchcards and table games, and in June 2017 it won the EGR B2B Software Rising Star award.
In 2018 it won an EGR award for slot innovation, announced a bingo product in February and acquired Extreme Live Gaming from Novomatic. In April 2019 its Bucharest live casino studio received a Romanian (ONJN) operating licence, with capacity for more than 43 tables. Bingo Blast launched in April 2020, and the Drops & Wins promotion launched in 2020 before a June 2021 relaunch with a €7 million prize pool, fully funded by Pragmatic Play.
The crash game Spaceman arrived in March 2022 and Big Bass Crash in October 2023. In October 2025 a live casino studio opened in Bogotá, Colombia, through ARRISE. In August 2026 the company stopped supplying US sweepstakes casinos. Awards in 2026 include the EGR B2B Awards on 3 June for casino software supplier and slot supplier over five years, and the SBC Awards on 1 October, where it was named Casino/Slots Developer of the Year (Large) for a third consecutive year and Live Casino Supplier.
